Commander III Curb & Gutter Applications

 

This new Next Generation Commander III is on its first project simultaneously trimming and slipforming rollover curb and gutter at the Lakes Subdivision in the lake country of Winfield, British Columbia, Canada.

This three-track Commander III was used to slipform a stand-up curb along a new roadway in Bijapur, a city in the state of Karnataka, south of Mumbai, India.

 

 

This contractor slipforms curb and gutter with their three-track Commander III in Kemerovo Oblast, Russia.

 

 

This contractor has put their new GT-3600 to work on eight different curb and gutter projects in Nevada. Projects include a 12,000 foot (3658 m) rollover curb job at the Schulz Ranch subdivision in Carson City, as well as 30,000 feet (9144 m) of a different profile of rollover curb at the Damonte Ranch planned community in Reno.

The new Commander III features the GOMACO-exclusive G+ control system for easy and quiet operation. The paver also has an optimized cooling package with a hydraulic fan controlled by G+ to adapt cooling needs to job-site conditions for quiet and efficient operation.

The operator’s console pivots and allows hands-on control and visibility. The platform is also isolated to eliminate vibration.

 

 

 

GOMACO’s trim/pour design assures maximum concrete yield. The Commander III is equipped with a 42 in. (1067 mm) wide sectionalized trimmerhead. Extensions are available on the unique sectionalized trimmerhead for trimming up to 10 ft. (3.05 m) wide.

This Commander III provides high-production slipforming curb and gutter below grade on a city street in Canada.

 

 

A Commander III three-track simultaneously trims through 2.5 inches (64 mm) of Mississippi red clay as it slipforms 24 inch (610 mm) wide stand-up curb and gutter on a new housing development.

 

 

The sideshifting, vertical-lifting trimmerhead and mold helped this contractor in Nova Scotia, Canada, maneuver in minimum-clearance situations.

The charging conveyor on the Commander III provides fast concrete loading, which increases production. The conveyor is hydraulically powered and reversible. The charging conveyor is 24 in. (610 mm) wide and 17 ft. 1 in. (5.21 m) long between pulley centers. The belt speed is variable up to 320 fpm (97.54 mpm).

 

 

A contractor in Alabama slipformed 16,357 linear feet (4986 m) of valley gutter in nine hours and 23 minutes.

This Commander III is equipped with a monolithic trimmerhead and mold. It simultaneously trims the correct profile as the monolithic sidewalk and curb and gutter is slipformed. The monolithic profile is a 5 ft. (1.52 m) sidewalk with a 36 in. (914 mm) roll curb.

 

 

The track circuits on the three-track machine provide up to 49 fpm (15 mpm) operating speed for high-production paving and 125 fpm (38 mpm) travel speed, allowing quick and easy job-site mobility.

The Commander III is carefully designed to give years of dependable and safe service. Emergency stop buttons are located on strategic areas of the machine. The E-Stops are on the operator's console and on corners of the machine.

 

 

The Commander III slipforms curb and gutter through radius work with minimum-clearance requirements easily. Self-tensioning tracks are fully automatic and hydraulically lock in on machine start-up to maintain steady track tension on the track chain.

The Commander III features the sideshifting and vertical-lifting trimmerhead, mold drawbar and hold-down assembly. The mounts on the Commander III provide up to 36 in. (914 mm) hydraulic sideshift, 18 in. (457 mm) of hydraulic vertical adjustment and 6 in. (152 mm) of manual vertical adjustment.

The Commander III allows the interchangeability of mold profiles in a matter of minutes, providing high production. Pre-existing attachments are interchangeable on the Commander III.

 

 

The Commander III trims and slipforms curb and gutter through a cul-de-sac. For clearance of obstacles, the three-track Commander III’s trimmerhead and mold will hydraulically sideshift up to 36 in. (914 mm).

 

 

All-Track Steer (ATS) and All-Track Positioning (ATP) are features that provide contractors with a versatile machine. The advantages to ATS and ATP are maneuvering around and avoiding obstacles, set-up time, mounting molds, transporting the machine, and loading and unloading.
