Las Vegas, Nevada -- GOMACO Corporation in Ida Grove, Iowa, USA, showcased its newest paver in their complete line of concrete slipform pavers at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The new two-track or four-track GP-2400 is the economical choice for contractors looking for a concrete paver capable of slipforming widths up to 24 feet (7.3 m) wide. The GP-2400 is also designed to be tight-radius capable, user-friendly, maneuverable, easy to transport from job site to job site, and quick to set up on site.

The new GP-2400 paver is the result of a contractor approaching GOMACO with a specific request for a new machine capable of slipforming a tight radius. The new paver is equipped with GOMACO series two tracks capable of turning tighter than traditional length tracks on a paver. The tracks also allow for a minimum machine transport width, making job-to-job mobility easier, safer, quicker, and more cost effective.

It is also equipped with the exclusive GOMACO G+ control system with self-diagnostics for grade and steering. The control system was designed in-house by GOMACO control specialists and features easy-to-operate hardware with steering and travel dials, while buttons are used to control elevation. The G+ was programmed to operate in multiple languages to accommodate the customer’s choice. A “run” screen on the control panel illustrates the various aspects of the paver. It includes leg positioning, steering, travel information, grade information and more.

The paver features the GOMACO 3100 series open-front mold and a telescoping frame that provides extra versatility in width changes. The GP-2400 provides contractors with a range of paving widths up to 16.5 feet (5 m), with the standard telescoping frame and paving widths up to 24 feet (7.3 m) with frame inserts. Ten vibrator and 16 vibrator circuits are standard on the GP-2400. It has the T-Beam mounting rail for accurate and quick mold positioning, quick mounting, and quick removal of the mold on the job site.

The GP-2400 paver is powered by a 174 hp (129.5 kW) 6.6 Turbocharged Caterpillar® diesel engine. Two-speed track motors provide quick job-site mobility. The travel speed on the two-track GP-2400 is 105 feet per minute (32 mpm), and up to 96 feet per minute (29.3 mpm) for the four-track paver, to quickly cross the job site or move from one pour to the next. Low speed is variable and features the smooth crawl that GOMACO pavers are known for when slipforming concrete.

The new GP-2400 paver, set up to pave 16 feet (4.9 m) wide, was only one of the innovations GOMACO had on display in their World of Concrete booth in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The GOMACO GT-3600 curb and gutter machine with stringless control was on display. A three-track Commander III, with a standard safety barrier mold, was displayed, along with a four-track cantilever Commander III with side-mounted mold for lane additions. The C-450 bridge deck finisher with transitional framework was set to 32 feet (9.75 m) wide, and the GOMACO RTP-500 rubber-tracked placer completed the GOMACO display.

All of these machines and more will be in GOMACO’s display at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011, March 22-26, in Las Vegas, including the latest innovations in the GOMACO product line, new control systems, new product introductions, and a complete paving train. GOMACO will be located in the Central Hall, Booth #5111 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
