GOMACO To Introduce New RCC Paver At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008... A New Paver For A New Kind Of Concrete

RCC paverGOMACO is proud to introduce their new roller-compacted concrete (RCC) paver. The new paver combines the power, capacity and mobility of the GOMACO RTP-500 rubber-tracked placer with a GOMACO-designed RCC screed. The combination of the RTP-500 and RCC screed provides a durable paver capable of handling the harsh, zero-slump RCC mix designs. It’s the contractor’s answer to an RCC paver that will provide compaction and uniformity in density and strength in the roller compacted concrete. See it for the first time at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 in the GOMACO Booth, #C5657 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

It’s the perfect combination for high-production RCC paving. The GOMACO-designed auger-style receiving hopper on the RTP-500 is the largest in the industry and features a working capacity of 4.75 cubic yards (3.63 m3). It was built with strength and durability for handling high-volume, end-dump paving operations. A 14 inch (356 mm) diameter auger, with speeds up to 80 rpm, quickly moves the material to the high-speed transfer conveyor. Shaft-mounted eccentric vibrators provide vibration for emptying the hopper after each load and increase material flowability. A 36 inch (914 mm) wide transfer conveyor moves material to the rear at speeds up to 484 fpm (147.5 mpm).

The new GOMACO RCC screed was designed for the ultimate in versatility and variable width paving. The screed is sectionalized for variable widths. It features independent 14 inch (356 mm) dual augers with a sectionalized dual tamper bar for spreading and compacting the RCC mix. It’s capable of paving variable slab depths with a hydraulic crown adjustment to meet the project’s design specifications. Hydraulic variable control of screed vibration ensures proper mix consolidation. The screed was also designed to be serviceable. All of the RCC screed’s wearable items were designed for fast replacement. Also, removable covers on the screed and its front strike-off wall allow easy access to maintenance points.

The RCC screed attachment adds to the RTP-500 versatility as the ultimate concrete/asphalt placer. The operator’s station can be positioned in one of five locations for the ultimate in visibility. The RTP-500 is propelled by a friction-drive track system with a travel speed up to nine miles per hour (14.5 kph) for job-site mobility and an operating speed up to 110 fpm (33.5 mpm).
