GOMACO’s 4400 Barrier Paver, Designed Specifically for the International Market, will be on Display at Intermat 2012

4400

The GOMACO 4400 slipforms left-side pour U-channel, 500 millimeters (19.7 in) tall, below grade next to an existing roadway on a project on the island of Mauritius.

Ida Grove, Iowa – The 4400, GOMACO’s new barrier machine, was built specifically for the international concrete paving market. It is capable of true right-side and left-side slipforming and features GOMACO’s proprietary G+ operating system, which among its many powerful features has the ability to operate in multiple languages. The 4400’s shipping width allows it to be containerized for economical ocean shipping. The 4400 will be on display at Intermat 2012 in the GOMACO stand 5aJ054 in the American Pavilion (Hall 5a, Row J, Stand 054) in the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition in Paris, France.

The 4400 was built around international right-side pour paving, but also needed to be left-side capable. The result is a four-track barrier paver with symmetrical steering and minimal set-up changes for switching profiles from side-to-side. The operator’s platform has a unique U-shape that puts the operator on top of the action. The control console slides from side-to-side to accommodate right-side and left-side pour and provides a 360 degree view of the entire paving operation. The 4400 features a Cummins QSB3.3, 74 kilowatt (99 hp), Tier 3 power-optimized diesel engine for fuel efficiency and approximately 18 hours of continuous barrier slipform paving. Its high-capacity cooling package, designed for noise reduction, provides one of the quietest working platforms in the industry. The quiet operation, along with a operator’s platform that features vibration isolation, allows a comfortable working environment for the operator’s long day of paving.

It has the new GOMACO Barrier Hook-and-Go mold mounting system to quickly mount barrier molds up to 1000 millimeters (39.4 in) tall on either side of the machine. An optional sidemount attachment is available for barrier taller than 1000 millimeters (39.4 in) or existing barrier molds. GOMACO barrier molds are designed for proper vibration and consolidation of material, with the GOMACO-exclusive trailing stainless steel for superior finishing. The barrier machine features the new 4400 series, 406 millimeter (16 in) diameter auger, with the pitch and speed designed specifically for transporting low-slump concrete. Its four-way hydraulic positioning capability allows the auger to be placed perfectly for concrete receiving and delivery to the mold on either side of the machine.

The 4400 features the G+ operating system, the first paver control software to be designed and engineered in-house by GOMACO’s paving experts who know and understand the demanding requirements of concrete slipform paving. The controller features a display with deviation meters on the run screen. Design simplicity includes high definition, multi-colored bar graph meters to indicate machine deviation, and assist the operator in fine tuning both grade and steer performance. Troubleshooting is fast and efficient with advanced system diagnostics showing a full, detailed explanation of the fault and its location, along with emergency stop location identification when one is triggered on the machine. The new G+ control system coordinates the speed of the hydraulic fan with engine and hydraulic oil temperature. The tractive system on the 4400 features super low, allowing for the minimum speed and smooth crawl necessary for a vertical wall. The new G+ speed dial turns to adjust in one percent increments and speed display feedback allows for smooth, precision paving speed control.
